Reykjavík International with SH highlights
45 SH-swimmers had qualified for this international event and they performed brilliantly:
- 131 new personal best times were set
- 5 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals were won
- 3 swimmers qualified for EM, 1 for EMU, 4 for NÆM and 3 more for the SSÍ junior landslið.
- 44 places in the A-finals were achieved and 16 in the B-finals
- The juniors won 10 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals
We cheered for great individual performances:
- Anton Sveinn McKee won his both events in 100 and 200m bringusund. He was the pointhighest performer of the meeting, stayed again under the Olympic B-cut, and of course, just to mention, as well under the EM time.
- Jóhanna Elín Guðmundsdóttir qualified over 50m skriðsund for her first big 50m event, the EM.
She won 50m flug and set here and in 100m flug her first Hafnarfjarðarmet. She medalled as well over 50m skrið and 100m flug. - Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir qualified twice over 50m skriðsund for the EM, in the heats and in the finals.
She medalled in 50 skrið and 50 bak. - Dadó Fenrir Jasminuson won two golds over 50 and 100m skriðsund.
- Further medalists were Kolbeinn Hrafnkelsson (50m bak), Þorgerður Ósk Jónsdóttir (200m bak), María Fanney Kristjánsdóttir (200m flug og fjór), Júlíus Karl Maier (200m bak), Símon Elías Statkevicius (100m flug), Sunna Svanlaug Vilhjálmsdóttir (200m bringa) and
- Aron Þór Jónsson qualified over 200m bringusund for his first EM juniors, which was awarded with a silver medal. He won silver as well over 400m fjórsund.
- Birnir Freyr Hálfdánarsson set three new Icelandic drengja records and qualified for the Nordic Junior championships (NÆM). This youngster won bronze over 200m fjórsund.
- Daði Björnsson qualified again for NÆM with great improvements in 4 finals.
- Veigar Hrafn Sigþórsson qualified as well for NÆM and performed twice in an A-final (100m bak and 200m flug).
- Snorri Dagur Einarsson swam twice under the NÆM cut over 100m bringusund.
- And the SSÍ-junior landslið cut was beaten by Bergur Fáfnir Bjarnason in 400m fjór, and again from Dagbjörg Hlíf Ólafsdóttir (100m skrið) and Jóhanna Brynja Rúnarsdóttir (400m skrið). Helga Sigurlaug Helgadóttir (fd 2007) was in 800m skrið as well faster than the cut for 2006.
- Símon Elías Statkevicius raced the most events with 10 races (5 events, and always qualified for the A-final). He improved a lot in all events, mostly in 50 and 100m flugsund (114 and 111%).
