ÍM 50: SH wins medal table with 13 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze 13.04.2015
After an exciting weekend at the Íslandsmeistaramót in Laugardalslaug the results show: SH wins clearly the medal table with 13 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals. The biggest share of it goes to the relay team: the women winning all 3 events and the men 2. The mixed relays even won first and second place with new Icelandic records.
Individual Icelandic titles: Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir defends her 4 titles of 2014, Viktor Máni Vilbergsson won 2 and Aron Örn Stefánsson 1 breaststroke titles.

The strength of a team depends on the efforts of every individual swimmer, in all individual and relay events, and as well as a supporter on the bench and as a friend for advice during the stressfull time of a championship.
Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir and Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir came just for this weekend from their studies in the USA. They were again an essential part of all team results, beside their individual success in their major races. Both of them raced untapered and concentrate on their preparation for HM in the summer, and for the Small Nation Games in June in Reykjavík. The Olympic Games are their major goal for 2016.

Beside Hrafnhildur´s gold medals in 50, 100 and 200 bringa, and 200 fjór, Viktor Máni Vilbergsson´x 100 and 200 bringa (with fabulous times as well), and Aron Örn Stefánsson´s 50m bringa, those relay swimmers can call themselves proud Icelandic Champion of 2015:

Several swimmers performed faster than the "orientational" qualifying times for the Small Nation Games, and we are excited about who will be selected from SSÍ for that team. The announcement of that team should be made during this week.
