International Essener Sparkassen Challenge: Hrafnhildur and Ingibjörg on EM-Preparation 21.07.2014
The International "Sparkassen-Challenge" in Essen, GER, was the last chance for the German national team to qualify for the EM in 4 weeks in Berlin.
A good chance for Hrafnhildur and Ingibjörg Kristín to test their abilities in racing against some European's best as a part of the preparation for the EM as well.

Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir competed in her major events and ranked twice on the podium. Her results were clearly faster than in the comparable time one season before: 50m bringa 0.31.98 (fourth), 100m bringa 1.09.88 (3rd) and 200m bringa 2.29.59 (2nd).

Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir had a larger program, since she is testing her major events. She raced over 50 and 100m baksund, 50 and 100m skriðsund and 50m flugsund. Obviously she finds her lightliness slowly back, so that she can perform faster and better in her events. Her best results were the 50m skriðsund, where she placed 7th in the finals in 0.26.85.

Hrafnhildur and Ingibjörg will stay a few more days in Essen to prepare in a small swim camp the EM. Several German swimmers stay as well to train for the upcoming major event of the swim year, the European Championships in Berlin, which will show the real rankings after a competition face to face with European's bests.
