Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir With Great Improvements in the Finals of the Pac-12 Championships 26.02.2017
Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir swims right on her top at the end of her last season in the US. She raced successfully in the Pac-12 Championships in Federal Way, Washington, and has now a chance for another improvement, on the even bigger final event, the National University Championships (NCAA) in March.
Ingibjörg swims under the colors of ASU (Arizona State University). The Pac-12 Championships is the final competition of the best 12 University teams in the west USA.
Already on the first day Ingibjörg Kristín was the lead of her team in the 4x50m fjórsund relay, where she established a new personal best time of 24,30 in the 50 yards baksund.
Another best time followed on the second day with 22,73 over 50 yards skriðsund, which placed her already into the C-final of this strong field of competitors.
The third way her highlight: Three improvements on her strongest event, the 100 yards baksund: 53,69 in the heats, 52,96 ! in the B-final, and even better the 52,78 as the start swimmer of the 4x100 fjórsund relay, which guaranteed a 4th place for her team.
Ingibjörg Kristín did not only performed with best times, she was again clear faster than the qualifying times for the NCAA championships in March, and with her big improvement in the relay she guaranteed with her team the dream of every US-student to perform on this great University event.
We congratulate Ingibjörg Kristín and her parents Þórunn and Ágúst, who were strong supporters from the stands.
