ÍM50 2016 lokið: Congratulations to all SH swimmers: Largest team - mosts Medals - Most titles 26.04.2016

It is not common that in a large team each and everybody can perform on his/her best like in this year. All performances were close or better to the seasonal best times. 86,8% of all races showed improvements – another best mark of ÍM 50 2016.

Beside her 5 individual new and defended titles Hrafnhildur Lúthersdóttir was awarded with the Sigurðarbikarinn for the best breaststroke performance of ÍM50, and additionally with the Kolbrúnarbikarinn for the pointhighest best performance of 2015/16 (between the two ÍM´s) for her fabulous race in 200m bringusund at the HM in Russia last year.

Aron Örn Stefánsson confirmed his sprint abilities on long course over the 50 and 100m skriðsund, and repeated his wins from the ÍM25.

One new title for Ingibjörg Kristín Jónsdóttir in 50m flugsund, besides her 3 silver medals in 50 and 100m skrið, and 50m baksund.

Never tired of long distance training, and always ready to race: Bára Kristín Björgvinsdóttir succeeded with gold in 800m skriðsund, and 2 silvers in 400 and 1500m.

The same rewards for Viktor Máni Vilbergsson: gold for 200m bringa, silver for 50 and 100m.

Two more titles went to the relay teams: One Icelandic record secured the gold in the 4x50m free mixed team, while the men´s 4x100m fjórsund celebrated their gold (Kolbeinn, Viktor, Predrag, Aron Örn).

More medals to come and to count:

Another push for the long distance: 2 silver in 800 and 1500m, 1 brons in 400m freestyle with endless working Hafþór Jón Sigurðsson; and while his talent is the long distance, he loves the butterfly: silver over 200m sums up his collection to four medals.

2 repeated silver in very respectful times through Kolbeinn Hrafnkelsson in 50 and 100m baksund.

New swimmers on the podium: Katarína Róbertsdóttir with silver in 200m and brons in 100m baksund.

Also Sunna Svanlaug Vilhjálmsdóttir earned those medals: 1 silver for a great 200m bringa, and brons for her 100m.

Predrag Milos keeps always with the top, and is always a garant for fast swims: 3 brons in 50m skrið and flug, and 100m flugsund.

2 brons medals for Eyrún Agla Friðriksdóttir in lonely races over 800 and 1500m skriðsund.

The same result for Ólafur Sigurðsson: 2 brons in 200 skrið and 200 bringa.

And never giving in: Karen Sif Vilhjálmsdóttir wins 2 brons in 50m bringa and flugsund – always a danger for the top-swimmers.

And more medals to the relays: silver for the 4x100m skriðsund and fjórsund women, 4x50m fjórsund mixed, and brons to 4x50m skriðsund mixed.

Like already mentioned Jóhanna Elín Guðmundsdóttir estabished the qualifying time for the Nordic Youth Championships (NÆM) in Finland in the summer over 50 and 100m skriðsund. She raced 8-times above her personal bests.

Guðný Erna Bjarnadóttir improved her best in 50m flugsund.

Jón Tumi Dagsson swam 4 PB‘s and celebrated his first appearance in an ÍM-final, here over 200m fjórsund.

Her first 50m ÍM: Ylfa Finnbogadóttir proved her love for long distance with 3 PB´s in 400, 800 and 1500m skrið.

One final and 5 PB‘s for Jökull Ýmir Guðmundsson.

Long distance without stopping: 1500m-PB for Hildur Elísabet Hálfdanardóttir.

Now finally again a „sprint“ man: Motivated from his students during the swim camp in Gran Canary þrek-coach Davíð Jónatansson put on his racing suit and improved his times as well in 50 bringa and skriðsund.

The largest individual program had María Fanney Kristjánsdóttir with 12 races and PB‘s. Impressive Weekend!

Also a first appearance in an ‚IM final: Kári Sölvi Nielsen with 4 PB‘s.

Four starts and 4 PB‘s as well for Adele Alexandra Pálsson: her first ÍM 50!

From long distance to a sprinter: Arnór Stefánsson grips the challenge and rewards himself with two PB‘s in 50m bringa. More will come from him in the future!

3 finals and PB‘s for Natalia Cecylia Wojdat in all her breatstroke events.

And the rookie: First ÍM ever for Kristín Ylfa Guðmundsdóttir with one best performance over 200m fjórsund :)

One swimmer was missing because of injury: Ásdís Birta Guðnadóttir supported the team from the bench, and with her support in the call room.
